Report on Missions Trip to Uganda
by Howard McCallum
What a privilege to visit Uganda, the ‘Pearl’ of Africa as Winston Churchill called it. Once you’re there it’s easy to see why – a land rich in natural resource, lush vegetation and beautiful scenery.

For all that, a Land where the actuality falls far short of its potential and that is certain when you’ve only been there a short time. It’s not long into a visit before you would be asking why, like I did. This question is not so easy to answer, but somehow you are left certain that when the British had such influence around 100 years ago we could have done more to give, rather than being preoccupied with what we could take. |
Today’s capital, Kampala, is a frustrating place, as around every corner there appears to be something so obviously wrong that you would think it easy to put right. Then of course you realise it must be more complex, otherwise it would’ve been sorted out long-since!

For me it was away from the capital that I felt easier about cause and effect. A little goes a long way, and that applies at every level of life; whether their physical or spiritual needs. The folk seem full of potential, but are clearly in need of encouragement, enlightenment and exhortation. I’m up for going again, but next time better prepared, more focused and yes, more determined to make a difference. If you are a seed-sower then put your hand up and let’s ask the Lord ‘where to next?’ and ‘when?’
